58cm East German KdA cap (after months of searching). It's still a bit too small for my mahoosive noggin, but apparently socialists didn't have big heads in the 1980s

I've been looking at those as a stand in for Jedburgh, would prefer a proper German one though. Is it any good?

If it's the same as the one I've got, they are pretty good, yes. I would've been using mine, but I think I can fit everything into my large pack. If you're going German, will you need one ?

OT to this thread but Germans have a permanent encampment so won't need to carry the world on their backs.

OK. I just though we might need to trek to a secret location to set up our camp first.

Nice to know I got a bargain! It looks like it'll make a great mini picnic table, what, with it's bakelite insert it should stop hot messtins from burning my legs! I may even put maps in it, you never know!

did you notice how short the strap is? in period pics, the mapcases hang well low . on the modern frame at our average hight, they are under the armpits nearly ....

Is it the full type (webbing material front and back with bakerlite inner) or the austerity type (webbing flap on the front attached to a bakerlitee back)? If it's the full type, thats a real bargain!
I got my full type for £6. It's near mint, but I did buy it 18 years ago, and stuff was a lot cheaper then!

From your description McV, it's the "full" one. I'm even happier now!
